Check out the six Main Skilled Immigration Visas Available in Australia
Australia’s unemployment rate has been low over the past decade, especially compared to the rest of the world. This is due to the exceptional economic conditions that the country is going through and is mainly driven by the mining and services industry. The healthcare sector is another driving force for employment in Australia. Because of the high demand for the job, the Australian government has created six major visa options for skilled workers for aspiring migrants.
1. Visa for skilled immigrants and other professionals
The Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship has a program called the General Skilled Migration Program (GSM) which is intended for skilled workers and other professionals abroad who are not directly sponsored by the employer and who apply for a visa on their own. As with a sponsored employer, this work visa also states that the worker has skills and experience in the profession required in Australia.
1. Employer visa
This immigrant visa indicates that an Australian company or company legally registered abroad can sponsor and employ foreign workers. In addition to corporate sponsorship, a foreign worker will need the skills and qualifications required in Australia. A visa is sponsored by the employer to obtain a permanent or temporary employment contract.
3. Work visa
Business visa is for business people looking to start a new business or work and grow an existing business or invest in Australia only. If a particular Australian state or territory government wishes to encourage and attract a specific industry to its state or territory, it may provide exceptional care to business people involved in that business. The Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship website contains detailed information on work visas.
4. Australian Government Efficiency Visa
The Australian government has implemented a new online system called Skill Select, in which prospective applicants can enter their details. The idea is that after registering online, skilled workers are considered by employers or state governments for a referral. This unique online program was created to address the current skill shortage in Australia.
5. Visa program for doctors and nurses
It was created to address the long-term shortage of nurses, doctors and other health professionals. General practitioners or specialists can apply for this type of visa if they obtain their medical qualifications abroad or in Australia but do not currently have permanent residency in Australia.
6. A qualified immigration visa for air and sea crew
This is also available to crew members on commercial flights, charter flights or cargo, and passengers at the crew travel agency who are not Australian citizens.
